With the increasing growth in demand on back of rising income, expanding middle class and young population base, in addition to a large pool of skilled manpower and growing technology, has propelled India to be among the world's top five auto-producers. The automobile industry accounts for 22 per cent of the country's manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP). The auto sector is one of the biggest job creators, both directly and indirectly. It is estimated that every job created in an auto company leads to three to five indirect ancillary jobs.

India is expected to become a major automobile manufacturing hub and the third largest market for automobiles by 2020, according to a report published by Deloitte. India is currently the seventh-largest automobiles producer in the world with an average annual production of 17.5 million vehicles, and is on way to become the fourth largest automotive market by volume, by end of 2015. The Government of India encourages foreign investment in the automobile
sector and allows 100 per cent FDI under the automatic route to boost manufacturing sector.

Based on this, many multinational auto makers have started to invest heavily in various segments in the Industry in the last few years. Considering the fact of employment opportunities in the automotive sector and also to enhance the employability skills in the field of Mechanical Engineering, the Centre for University Industry Collaboration, Anna University jointly with M/s Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India Private Limited as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) proposed to conduct a Employability-Skill Enhancement Programme (E-SEP) for 600 final year engineering students (2016 Passing out) studying Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Manufacturing, Metallurgy and Industrial Engineering branches in the University Colleges and Affiliated Engineering Colleges of Anna University. This programme will be conducted in three zones namely Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore around 200 students will undergo 10 days training programme in each of the zone at free of cost. The selection of the candidates will be based on Merit-Cum-Means. Hence, you are requested to nominate top 10 students with 8.0 & above CGPA inclusive of all branches mentioned above. The parental annual income of the beneficiaries should not exceed Rs.4,00,000/- p.a. The eligible students list in soft copy (Excel Format) as per the format mentioned below may be sent through email to cuic@annauniv.edu on or before 28.08.2015. The shortlisted students list along with the details on the commencement of training, venue and any other relevant details will be intimated shortly through email as well as in the Anna University Website.
