Q: 1. An ISLB200 is used as a diagonal in a foot over bridge truss. Factored tensile load is 500kN. Both flanges are connected to two gusset plates by 16 bolts of 16mmφ symmetrically arranged, i.e. 8 bolts/flange. Thus, there are four bolts on each side of web per flange. Determine the maximum tension it can carry. fy = 250MPa. (10)

Q: 2. Design a suitable angle section to carry factored tensile force of 350kN. Use welded connection.  (10)

Q: 3. Design a built – up laced column with two channels placed face to face and separated apart. The column is of 6.6m effective length and supports a factored load of 1500kN. Also design the single lacing system. (20)
