Abstract:


     Blind people has to undergo a lot of trouble because of their handicap. They are forced to face the inferiority complex and criticism. To help them to overcome this problem we have proposed a system that will help them to travel and move about on their own and navigate independently.  The proposed system is based on “Microcontroller, camera and Detectors”. This constitutes a digital eye which can be used communicate with the outside environment using camera and sensors. The camera is used to gather all the details from the outside world which provides all the details required. The camera is placed on the head of the blind person and the sensor is placed on either side of the leg. The output signals from the camera and sensors are processed by microcontroller located in the main functioning unit which will process using the matlab coding and that output is given as speech output through the speech unit. The processed information about surroundings will be informed through the wireless headset (output unit) by which blind people can navigate independently.
