LATEX is a software that is usually used for creating project reports, articles or documents. It is suitable when you are producing long documents. Latex is more user friendly because of its "commands".
Advantages of Latex over MS Word--
-- latex can automatically generate index, list of fig, tables etc by the following commands
\tableofcontents
\listoffigures
\listoftables
-- If you are using ms word & if you want to delete fig. No. 7, then you will have to rename all the remaining figures. Fig.8 becomes fig.7, fig. 9 becomes fig.8 & so on. . . This is time consuming. In "LATEX" deleting an image will automatically rename the other images.. Which is better ??
-- In Latex, its easier to add complex equations
-- your report will be generated in pdf format..
