I think its good to have a field to add dept in user profile to mention his/her dept. It will be very good if the dept is shown during his post too..

So that the respective dept member can contact each other regarding projects & other activities related to his/her dept.

it seems Good...

the spacing between the posts and reputations are more and we can reduce and we can dept over there.
