A very simple but confusing puzzle..!!

is the answer is 2000

the ans is 2000.......
because he gave the balance amount of rs800 to that lady.......
then he lost his things worth rs 200.......
the other shop keeper collect his money 1000 instead of giving that fake currency......

so i think the loss amount is 2000.......

the shop keeper lost 2000 rupees...considering the note to be duplicate,he loans an amount of 1000 rupees from his neighbour,he gives 800 rupees to the lady also he gives the product worth rupees 200 to the lady.

Good try. Unfortunately your ans. is wrong. Its solution is as given below:
See, there are 3 people over here. The loss faced by the shopkeeper is equal to the profit earned by the lady & the other shopkeeper, from whom he had got the change of Rs. 1000/-
1)[font=Times New Roman]      The lady got goods worth Rs. 200/- & Rs. 800/- as change. So, total profit of the lady= Rs. 1000/-[/font]
2)[font=Times New Roman]      Now, the shopkeeper had taken change of Rs. 1000/- by giving duplicate 1000 rs note from other shopkeeper. Later he returned Rs. 1000/-   So, profit earned by other shopkeeper is zero.[/font]
Hence, total loss= Rs. 1000/-    ........(from 1 & 2)
