The EGA computer graphics standard is announced.

This was the first personal computer color video standard to have a higher resolution than broadcast television. It came at a cost of $200 , memory upgrade was required and then the card itself was over $500.

IBM stops selling AMD-based PCs in North America.


AMD is an Advanced Micro Devices it is an American multinational semiconductor company and that develops computer processors and related technologies . Its main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors and graphics processors for servers, workstations and personal computers, and embedded systems applications.

Atanasoff finishes paper describing the Atanasoff Berry Computer

The Atanasoff–Berry Computer (ABC) was the first electronic digital computing device. Conceived in 1937, the machine was not programmable, being designed only to solve systems of linear equations. It was successfully tested in 1942 by the Atanasoff.
